DIFFERENT STAGES OF EXERCISE
Stages of exercise
- Each client Exercise according to her own ability depending on the physical status and level of conditioning or which treatments they have undergone.
- Before you start I conduct a comprehensive health history session
- You need to obtain medical clearance from your medical team before you start.
Stage 1 - As soon as possible after surgery when you have the physicians approval.
At this stage we start with the mobilising of the affected arm and deep breathing to help you relieve pain, swelling, tightness and discomfort of the affected arm.
We also do relaxation at the end of a session to help you to keep your positive spirit.
Stage 2 - Up to about 8 weeks after breast cancer surgery taking your physical status and level of conditioning into consideration, we start with slow, controlled movement focusing on the upper body to help prevent weakness and inflexibility.
We'll do deep breathing exercises for relaxation and pain control, and relieve the tightness in the back, chest and shoulder.
Stage 3 - We continue to focus on building strength, conditioning and flexibility exercises
